Welcome to the online home of Jabi.
I write about open-source self-hosted software, smart home solutions, event production technology,
and the AI technologies shaping our world. I also craft stories and make music.
Projects
Things I have created and currently working on
KPI Quest
A role-aware performance management and gamification platform that transforms everyday KPIs into live competitions, achievements, and team engagement — built for sales, support, and operations teams.
BackstageOS
One local-first, peer-to-peer operating system for the whole production.
Every department, every stage of a show’s life, on one shared production graph.
Books
Worlds of magic, mystery, and a bit of grumpiness.
Magitech Mysteries
The first book in the series, Whispers of the Arcane Grid, is available on Amazon in hardcover. A neon-lit city where every line of code hums with arcane energy and spells can be hacked. The second book, Digital Phantoms, is now available!
Bartholomew Quill
A Curmudgeon’s Reckoning follows Barty, a retired magical enforcer, who is forced out of retirement after someone steals his kettle. A witty, action-packed short story for anyone who enjoys hidden magical worlds and dry, satirical humour.
Case files of the DMC
In a Britain where magic is regulated, monetised, and quietly siphoned into London, reality is just another public utility, and someone is about to pull the plug. Follow Randy Wickes as he and the DMC uncover the truth behind it all.
Music
Soundtracks for life and logic.
Songs for Scarlett
A personalised collection of nursery rhymes and dance anthems for my daughter, poured straight from the heart.
Some Kind of Intelligence
An AI-collaborative experiment that produces tracks from scratch. Hilarious, unexpected, and always entertaining.
The Singularity Suite
A thought-provoking concept album exploring the rise of AI and the potential decline of humanity.
